How to Choose Your First Chastity Cage

My personal experience and tips for choosing a chastity cage, understanding sizing, trying different models and avoiding common mistakes.

When you first start looking into chastity cages, you quickly realize just how many different models there are: plastic, metal, long cages, short cages, flat cages, colorful ones… and, above all, a huge number of different ring sizes.

At first, it can therefore be quite difficult to know what to buy. And, as with many accessories of this kind, the size shown on a product page is not always enough to know whether a cage will actually be comfortable.

Start by finding your size

Personally, my first cage was simply a fairly inexpensive model bought from a Chinese marketplace. I deliberately chose something around an average size and, most importantly, a model that came with several different ring sizes.

The goal was not necessarily to find the perfect cage straight away, but rather to discover what could work for me. Being able to try several ring diameters already gives you a much better idea without having to buy several completely different cages.

For a first cage, I think it makes more sense to choose an affordable model with several rings than to spend a lot of money straight away on a size chosen almost at random.

The ring is not the only important measurement

After my first few attempts, I gradually moved toward relatively affordable metal cages that matched what I was looking for a little better.

That is also when I discovered something important: the diameter of the ring is not the only measurement that matters.

You also need to look at the gap between the ring and the cage itself. If that space is too small, the cage can become uncomfortable or create too much pressure. If it is too large, however, the fit and support may be poor.

Two cages using exactly the same ring diameter can therefore feel completely different simply because of their shape, their length or the spacing between the ring and the cage.

Try different shapes

Once you have a better idea of the dimensions that work for you, you can start experimenting with different shapes and sizes.

Some people prefer a fairly traditional cage, while others like very short or almost flat models. The experience can also be very different between plastic and metal cages.

Today, I mainly use three different models:

  • a small metal cage;
  • a flat cage;
  • a pink cage with more restrictive internal elements.

I will obviously add photos of these three models later, both directly in this article and in the website gallery.

For models with rigid or pointed internal elements, however, I would recommend being particularly careful. A cage should never cause injury, bleeding, numbness or persistent pain. In my opinion, models like these are better suited to occasional use than to long-term wear.

Do not start with a full week

When you receive a cage that feels comfortable, it can be tempting to immediately see how long you can keep it on. I would strongly advise against starting with several days in a row.

The first few times, it is better to wear it for relatively short periods and regularly check how your body reacts. You can then gradually increase the duration if everything feels fine.

A cage that feels perfectly comfortable after thirty minutes can sometimes become much less pleasant after several hours of walking, a full workday or a night of sleep.

Hygiene is essential

If you want to wear a cage regularly, hygiene obviously becomes very important. Personally, I prefer to remove it regularly so that I can properly clean both the cage and the skin.

Even when a model theoretically allows you to wash without removing it, taking the cage off completely gives you the opportunity to check for irritation, small injuries or painful areas.

For longer wear, comfort and hygiene are far more important than the challenge of keeping the cage on for as long as possible.

A cage should not hurt you

A short adjustment period can be normal, but a cage should not cause genuine pain. If you notice an injury, unusual swelling, loss of sensation, abnormal discoloration or pain that does not go away, remove it.

And if something seems genuinely abnormal or does not improve after removing the cage, you should obviously not hesitate to seek medical advice.

Using a strap for longer wear

Another thing I discovered over time is how useful a strap or support system can be for keeping the cage properly in place.

Without additional support, it can be tempting to use a particularly tight ring simply to stop the cage from moving. Personally, I prefer using a slightly more comfortable ring together with a strap.

This helps reduce movement during the day and lowers the risk of the cage shifting enough for a testicle to accidentally slip through the other side of the ring.

For me, once you start thinking about relatively long wear, this becomes almost essential. It does not replace a proper fit, of course: if the cage constantly slips or needs a lot of tension to stay in place, it is probably better to reconsider the dimensions of the model.

Finding the right cage takes some experimenting

Just like with heels, finding the perfect model on your very first try is mostly a matter of luck. Your first cages are mainly useful for learning what you like, which dimensions work for you and which shapes you can wear comfortably.

Starting with relatively affordable models therefore makes it easier to experiment before eventually investing in a higher-quality cage or one made to more precise measurements.

The most important thing is never to sacrifice comfort or safety simply to wear a smaller cage or keep one on for longer.
